Donna Jenny (donna.jenny@dpsnc.net,) Durham Public Schools, agreed to be the leader of the North Central PANC and the representative for the PANC Steering Committee until the September meeting when the governing body will be officially established.
Everyone received a copy of the PANC by-laws. The four standing committees (conference planning, professional development, legislative, and membership) were discussed. The group was asked to consider serving or nominating someone to serve on these committees. Send names to Carolyn Sneeden, csneeden@dpi.state.nc.us and the group will decide at the September meeting who will serve. Other suggested topics to possibly discuss at the September meeting were legislative update, School Executive Evaluation Instrument, Background Checks and a best practices/sharing/question and answer time. The group was encouraged to frequently visit the NC PANC website, www.pancweb.org for information.
The draft of the pilot School Executive Evaluation Tool has been posted to the Professional Development website at http://www.ncpublicschools.org/profdev/ (click on Draft of Pilot Executive Evaluation Too). Those with questions should contact Stephen Greene at sgreene@dpi.state.nc.us or (919) 807-3278. Joyce Wade and Robin LIttle shared information about Johnston County's Volunteer Policy and use of the Fulcrum Software. They have been working with Mark Nippert, markn@fulcrumcorp.com to develop the volunteer update process. He wrote a program that matches the volunteer list with the nightly AOC download. The result is if they have an approved volunteer that is charged with a criminal offense, they they find out about it. He also put the volunteer list on a protected server to make processing and communication with principals easier.
Dan Holloman gave a reminder that the Title II application is due June 16-20. He also encouraged LEAs to invite the 2008 Teacher of the Year, Cindi Rigsbee and the 2008 Principal of the Year, Debra Morris, to speak.
David Howell would like to share the following note of interest with the group. DPI has now created the new codes for Elementary Education. More information will be coming soon. Elementary Reading: 25190; Elementary ESL 25110; Elementary Special Education 25880. |
